Firmness Feel & Support

Touching the top of the Natasha Luxury Firm Pillowtop mattress feels velvety soft. My first thought is that it is soft, supportive, and firm. Probably the firmest pillowtop I’ve tried but it is still nice and soft to the touch. I notice that I sink down a little less than Sonya. I can feel the AirCool Beautyedge Foam Encasement doing its job keeping me from sliding off the bed. When I stand up off the bed, the response time is quick like the Tatiana and the Sonya. In about 2-3 seconds the mattress goes back to its original shape.

Laying on my back the mattress feels soft with a firm core.  The mattress responds and conforms well to my body. I can definitely feel good pressure relief with this mattress. Laying on my side I notice the mattress is a little firm for a side sleeper but it still conforms and supports my body well.  When I am lying on my stomach I don’t sink down as much as I did on the Tatiana and the Sonya so it would be an okay choice for a stomach sleeper. Comparing this mattress to the Sonya Luxury Firm Pillowtop, the Natasha Luxury Firm Pillowtop is a little firmer but it is close to the same comfort as the Sonya.

Overall this mattress is very supportive and comfortable. The Natasha Luxury Firm Pillowtop is definitely a firmer pillowtop. It rates as a 4 on our 10-point comfort scale: 1 being the firmest and 10 being the softest. This mattress would be a great choice for people who mainly sleep on their backs and prefer a mattress that is firm.  Even though this mattress is firm it is still soft allowing the mattress to be very supportive and comfortable at the same time. If you are a side and/or stomach sleeper this mattress would be a fairly good choice depending on your comfort preference.

Interior Breakdown of the Natasha Luxury Firm Pillowtop Mattress

The Simmons Beautyrest Black Natasha Luxury Firm Pillowtop Mattress is similar to the Simmons Beautyrest Black Sonya Luxury Firm Pillowtop mattress. The only difference between the two is the Sonya has an extra layer of micro coils which provides more comfort and support. Top Layer of Mattress – Modal yarn

Starting from the top of the mattress is the luxurious Beautyrest Black mattress fabric made of modal yarn. Modal yarn is a soft, durable, natural material that is designed to wick away moisture. This fabric is often used in lingerie and towels. To finish the fabric, it is dipped in a phase change material designed to keep you cool and comfortable during the night.

SurfaceCool Plus Fiber

Next, the SurfaceCool Plus Fiber is designed to keep you cool and comfortable. This breathable fiber is located beneath the luxurious Beautyrest Black modal yarn fabric. These fibers are made of Tencel fibers and are vertically oriented for maximum breathability. Tencel is a natural fiber that is derived from wood pulp and is designed to dissipate body heat so you can sleep comfortably thru the night.

Comfort Foam

Next is 2 ¼” comfort foam which is made from a high-quality polyurethane material and has the CertiPUR- US seal of approval.

Dynamic Response Memory Foam

After the comfort foam is 3” of Dynamic response memory foam. This is where this mattress gets its firm feeling. Because this Simmons exclusive foam is molded pour foam instead of continuous pour foam, it creates firm yet comfortable, conforming back support and pressure relief. Along with its supportive properties, this foam is also ventilated for proper airflow throughout the mattress.

BlackICE Memory Foam

Then we get into the BlackICE Memory Foam. There is 1” of this foam in this mattress. This is one of Simmons newest foam innovations. It is an updated version of the Micro Diamond memory foam with added gel phase change treatment at the surface. If you get a chance to touch this foam at a Simmons retailer, it is noticeably cool to the touch. This foam as well as the Micro Diamond Memory Foam uses the conductive properties of real diamond particles to absorb heat away from the body. A queen mattress has over 250 carats of real diamond particles.

Comfort Response Latex

Getting close to the bottom of the mattress there is a ½” of Comfort Response Latex. This pinhole ventilated Comfort Response Latex is designed to promote airflow and conform and contour your body for maximum pressure relief and comfort. This material has a consistent cell structure throughout the layer making it resilient and durable. For people who have a latex allergy, do not fear. The latex layer sits so deep in the mattress that your skin will not be in touch with the material. Also, Latex foam is known for being anti-dust mite.

Advanced Pocketed Coil Layer

Last but not least is the Advanced Pocketed Coil layer, the core of the mattress. The pocketed coil was first invented by Simmons in 1925 and has since been improved and innovated for better conformability, durability, and motion separation than any other coil. Remember those Beautyrest commercials where they dropped a bowling ball on a mattress with bowling pins set up at the end of the bed, and the pins didn’t move? This is a perfect representation of how these coils work. These coils are designed to perfectly conform to your body so that when you change sleeping positions you don’t disturb your partner. You won’t find these coils in any other Beautyrest line. The difference between these coils and coils in the other Beautyrest lines is that these high-carbon steel coils are triple-strand wrapped creating a stronger coil. Otherwise, they are pre-compressed, and individually wrapped in durable, yet soft non-allergenic fabric like all other Beautyrest coils.

AirCool Beautyedge Foam Encasement

Surrounding the entire mattress is ventilated AirCool Beautyedge foam. This pinhole ventilated foam promotes airflow throughout the mattress and offers additional support on the edge of the mattress, preventing you from rolling or sliding out of bed.
